Dan's Doodles
Does it seem to you like the semester is flying by? It sure seems like it to me. We are well
past the half way mark now. Before you know it, it will be Thanksgiving and, after Thanksgiving,
it will be time for finals. (Sorry to remind you). It seems like the pace picks up from here on
out, also. Projects that you have put off for the whole semester are coming due. Tests are
coming up. Papers are due. Wow. It can be overwhelming. We get so busy that we don’t have time
for anything including God. God will just have to wait until I have more time.
It is easy to take that attitude, but our relationship with God is definitely worth taking
time for. When things are hectic we need the peace of God
|
in our our lives more then ever. In fact, Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who are
weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." I’m not sure how this works, but I have found
that the more time I take for God, the more time I have. Pretty amazing, but God is amazing.
Let’s strive to give God our best, not the leftovers.
If you ever have any questions or want to talk, I’m always available.

My Personal Testimony...
By Jill Prater
One night, when I was in high school, I read the first chapter of John, and I realized that
I needed to be baptized. I don’t know what it was that made the difference. I had been going
to church my whole life. All of my family believes, my grandfather is a minister. That night
God changed my life. John 1:4 says that He is the life, and the life is the light of all
people. I knew that I wanted that life and light for myself, not just for my family and the
people around me.
My grandfather baptized me the next weekend. I have never felt freer than I did that day.
Since then, I have made a lot of mistakes and let God down, but He always forgives me and
welcomes me back to Him with open arms. My God is a perfect and loving God, but fortunately
He doesn’t expect perfection from us. He just wants us to love Him and do our best for Him.
If we do, He will greatly reward us.

After blowing a 14-9 lead in the first set and trailing 8-4 in the second, it looked like CCF
was headed toward an 0 and 3 start in the intramural volleyball season. But this years CCF
squad is nothing if not resilient. Slowly but surely, CCF worked its way back into the game.
Good teamwork helped CCF come back to win the second set 15-12. Inspired by the second set
comeback, CCF went on to dominate the decisive 3rd set, sparked by seven straight service
points from Cason Wacker.
CCF’s victory came without star net player John Dill. In the second game of the season, Dill
fell victim to an injury. Looking to keep a rally alive, Dill dove to the floor. His effort
came up just short as the ball hit the floor, and sadly, so did his chin. Dill was rushed to
the emergency room where he was treated with three
|
stitches. Team trainers decided to keep Dill out of game three to prevent further aggravation to his injury.
The void left by Dill was filled by Phil Keller. Keller was deemed academically ineligible for
the first half of the season. "I kind of lost focus last semester," Phil said. "But now I’ve
got my studies back in order. I just want to do my part to help the team."
Team veteran Dan Toney also did his part to make up for Dill’s absence. With the grace and
agility of a ballerina, Toney seemed to be everywhere on the court. "Dan had some great moves
out there," said teammate and dance expert Sarah Brandau, "I don’t know where he could have
picked them up."
Although CCF’s season is back on the right track, the team could still use some new talent.
If you are interested in playing, talk to intramural director Cason Wacker.
