Softball Rejuvenated for CCF

By Nick Ansley
My Personal
Testimony...

The intramural world came to a standstill on Monday, September 21. The heavy underdogs from CCF overcame the odds and stunned everybody with an impressive 9-5 victory in round one. "I don’t think anyone would have bet on us," said outfielder Phil Keller, "It was just a great victory for us."
CCF was led by the hitting of Andy Haan who drove in five of CCF’s nine runs. The pitching was also solid as veteran Dan Toney used his complete repertoire to keep the opponent off guard. Toney was backed up by some good defense, led by Paul Ludington who used his speed to cover a lot of ground in left field.
With the momentum of a round one victory, CCF set its sites on

victory number two. Unfortunately, a second upset wasn’t to be. The defense, which was spectacular in game one, committed several costly errors, and Toney could not repeat his dominant pitching performance. "We knew it was risky sending Dan to the mound on only two days rest," manager Jeff Kuhne said, "in his younger days he probably could have handled it, but I guess it was just too much to ask."
Despite the round two loss, the progress in CCF’s intramural program is very evident. "Under (Nick) Ansley last year we had no direction," Dan Toney said, "putting Cason (Wacker) in charge has really rejuvenated the program." The rejuvenated intramural program will now look to the volleyball season, which begins this month.

Our great and mighty God calls us each by name, and he longs to know us intimately. It’s a long journey with many ups and downs, but there is a promise of a great reward beyond our comprehension.
I began my journey eight years ago, as I sat in church and watched Jesus hang from the Cross. I saw Jesus as my Savior--a man so full of love and mercy that He stretched His arms out and died for me. Never before had I felt the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus called my name and I answered. My life has never been the same.
As the years go by, I learn more and more of the precious gift of Jesus. I can never stop standing in awe of His power and might. He is capable of more than we can imagine. I just pray that God will continue shaping me for His glory, and that I will forever seek to be holy.

A Line
From Leisl

I’m sure all of you remember (or are going through) your college freshman year. I remember mine: the fresh faces, newfound freedom, hard responsibilities, and much more. That was a huge adjustment time, mostly because I didn’t feel like I really had a home. The house I grew up in was still "home", but it just wasn’t the same. After all, I didn’t live there anymore, and my bedroom had been turned into a sewing room. My dorm wasn’t home either because I knew it was temporary. Being in such a state of limbo was scary. Thankfully, I found a home away from home in the Campus Ministry I went to. The people there were my family and

friends while I was away. It was a comfort to know that I had people who cared for me even when I was far away from my "real" home. I sincerely hope that all of you have found a home away from home in CCF!

CCF Hayride

Join us as we travel to Knoxville, Iowa to meet up with the Iowa State group for an old fashoned Hayride. We will leave this Saturday at 3:30 and plan to stay overnight to help out with a church service on Sunday. The trip should be a lot of fun.

We hope to see you there!

Congratulations to Dan and Holly Toney on their new house!
